UHS Winter Dance: Northern Lights

Event Policy: *Only University High School students are to attend this dance. Any guests must have submitted a UHS Guest Permission form by the due date and the UHS student will have received an email confirmation for their guest attendance approval. All UHS behavioral expectations are to be followed. There are no refunds for this event. - This event has a no refund policy.

A beautiful evening under the "Northern Lights" where UHS Tigers come together to dance, laugh, and enjoy. This University High School event will take place in the UC Ballroom (3rd floor) on the campus of the University of Memphis. The dance is from 7:00pm-10:00pm. Doors open at 7:00pm exactly, and students will dismiss from the UC Ballroom with designated chaperones beginning at 9:45pm. Students attempting to leave early will need a parent/guardian to come to the UC Ballroom entrance table and check their student out.

All parents/guardians will form a dismissal line along Zach Curlin to begin dismissal promptly at 9:50pm.

Laboratory & Training - Session One - Literacy Unlocked

Thursday, January 23rd at 9:00 AM

Session One: Literacy Unlocked

Agenda: 

  • Hear from UofM College of Education subject matter experts and University
    Schools practitioners on the science of reading and how to integrate literacy
    best practices through a Reggio Emilia early childhood model, a Montessori
    early childhood model, and a focused, comprehensive early literacy program
  • Tour the ELRC or Campus School to see literacy in an elementary setting (select
    during registration).
  • Tour University Middle and High School to see focused secondary literacy.
  • Learn about implementing high-quality instructional materials from Bailey Cato,
    Senior Vice President of Transformation at TNTP.

  • Learn the foundations of Project Based Learning and how to implement a Gold
    Standard PBL program in a middle school setting, from our University Middle
    administrators and UofM College of Education subject matter experts.
  • Observe PBL in action across University Middle School.
  • Bring your questions about the student experience to a student panel.
  • Learn about building assessment and reflection strategies into your PBL model
    and aligning PBL with your core academic programming.

    partners, to explore Dual Enrollment, CTE, Work Based Learning, and research
    ideas for the 2025-26 school year.
